Raiders (0-4) take on Marble Falls Mustangs (2-3)

Versus

Marble Falls (2-3) (0-1 in district)
Wins: San Marcos (0-4) and Medina Valley (3-1)
Losses: Burnet (4-1), Boerne Champion (5-0) and Vista Ridge (5-0)

Strengths for us: Its Homecoming,
and we have a healthy "#10Ed Butts" (he's really #32, but my kids call him #10EdButts- all one word:) back, which will add some depth to our lineup, not to mention that we are coming off a bye-week that allowed us the opportunity to rest up and get healthy.
We are also hungry for a Win.

Weakness for us: We are young, inexperienced and have not won a game.
But we are close. We are SOOO close to getting that win.
They have HUGE guys. Huge.

The Mustangs range from 5-6 to 6-4, 145-305lbs
Strengths: Skill Position Talent, Returning Players From Injury
Weaknesses: Inexperienced Linemen, Depth At LB

WE pretty much have those same Strengths and Weaknesses, their advantage is that they have 2 wins.

They have 6 returning Offensive starters and 6 returning defensive starters
Their top players are:
Quarterback: Zed Woerner 6'2" 185
Wide Receiver: David Morgan 6'4" 210
Defensive Back: Taylor Cauble 6'1" 175

9-28-10 The Daily Tribe: The Scouting Report: Marble Falls against Leander Rouse

Sometimes I like to listen to the OTHER team's pre-game announcers because they talk about the good and bad things about our team. I like to hear it. If you like to also- here is the link:)

The place was packed with the Raider Nation from 6:00 p.m. till 9:30 p.m. We crush last years mark of $1230 and we brought in $1639.29!!!!

Rouse Raiders vs Lampasas Badgers

VERSUS

The Lampasas Badgers (2-1)
Wins: against Manor (who is 2-1)- 27-26
against Austin Travis (who is 2-1) 37-34

and perhaps the scariest for us. They lost to Lorena 7-27
Lorena is 3-0 and have won handily over the teams they have beat.

Why is this loss scary?
Because when you are used to winning and you get that taste in your system, then lose a game, you are bound and determined to redeem yourself and get the next win and not take your next opponent lightly. So I guarantee their coach, Joey McQueen and his staff are ready to get that win back and aren't going to back down or overlook us.

Their biggest guy is 6-3, 265lbs and plays Defensive Tackle.
They have a LOT of Juniors on the team. They have 6 returning starters on Offense and 5 returning on Defense and yes, their starting QB is also a returning player.
According to Max Prep's their players to watch are:
G Rafael Cazares (6-2, 240, 4.9), DT Justin Taylor (6-3, 220, 4.8)

Should be a good match up! I am looking forward to seeing us try to get our first Win of the season tonight. What a celebration that would be!!
GO RAIDERS!!!
I BELIEVE we'll come home with that W!!!

I was WRONG!!!

The Raiders held Kenny Williams to 176 yards rushing. Normally I would not point this out, because truthfully, it doesn't matter.
BUT its 94 yards less than what he gained against Lake Travis.

I am NOT picking on Lake Travis, so if any of you (Mrs. Coach Lambert:) are reading this, its actually a compliment to you guys. Lake Travis is one of the top programs in the State and I think that we showed that our defense is improving and we are getting closer and closer to that first "W"

Raider may have lost in points, but we Won that game in so many other way.

This is how I find Judson before I am about to get ready to leave for the game.

Friday night. WOW, what a hell of a game we saw at AC Bible Stadium. I don't know about you, but I felt the excitement and I was thoroughly impressed with our team- specifically the defense.
There were some differences this week that you may have noticed. Several players were moved around and I think those changes were good for us. We are a little thin with some injuries, but we made it work!
I noticed the other day, that more than half of our starters are Sophomores. 5 on Defense and 6 on Offense. That's going to pay off in the next few years. AND here's the deal, we have PLAYED in every Varsity game. Our young team is hanging with 17, 18 and even some 19 year olds.

This week our D really stepped it up. I couldn't have been more proud. We did SO many things so well. We have a long way to go, but I can say now, without a shadow of a doubt that we will win some district games.

HEY!! I FINALLY got my Fever Dream Played before the game? I thought it sounded freaking AWESOME!!! And it definitely made us play better I am sure of it:) lol

The game started out that all of our others- we received and had GREAT opening drive, the difference being- WE SCORED on our opening drive. The first snap of the game, we went for 16 yards and we drove the ball down the field to the 1 yard line and Logan Kinder goes in for the score. Kick was good! Raiders on the board 7-0 with us only being on the field for about 2 minutes.

Things were looking good and we were excited.
Raiders went with a pouch kick as their kicked off to the Hendrickson Hawks and on their first snap, Kenny Williams #34 goes in for a Hawk touchdown.
Scoreboard 7-7
The third quarter was pretty sloppy for us, we had several turnovers and Williams was pushing pretty hard on our defense.
Going into Halftime the score was 27-7- the Hawks. Things were NOT looking good for us at this point and I am freaking out. I HATE losing- I hate even being BEHIND. For crying out loud, its FRUSTRATING in the stands. I am cheering, but can't do anything about the scoreboard. I hate it. I hate it for Josh. I know how hard they work and it kills me to get out beat and just have to sit there and not go give Josh a hug... Because I KNOW a hug will help us win right:) So instead, I settled for praying for a miracle and getting ready to start cheering.

So at the start of the 2nd half, the score was 27-7.
We kicked off to the Hawks- choosing to go with an on-side kick. It looked like we fell on the ball, but the officials called it a Hawk ball. So the Hawks got it mid-field.
Our defense swarmed Kenny Williams for a loss of 3 or 4 yards for the Hawks offense. Lucky Torres intercepted the Hawk ball and the ball was ours!
Pretty great start of the half. I wouldn't say there was a momentum shift, but we definitely were feeling it.

Raider offense drove the field and took the ball and on 4th and 9, we couldn't make anything happen, so we turn the ball over to the Hawks, who takes the ball down and on the first offensive snap- they take the ball and run it all the way down to score. Just like that. BUT WAIT- thank God for that yellow fabric, because they get a holding penalty which brings the ball ALL THE WAY back. NO Touchdown.

Bringing it to 2nd and 7 for the Hawks and our Linebacker- Travis Leslie get an amazing tackle for a loss of 2 yards. 2 plays later, Hawks QB hands off to Williams and he is brought down by Jaykob Gomez (#92 defensive end), (this is the tackle that Josh talks about on the video at the bottom of this)
Jaykob takes down #34 all by himself for a LOSS of 2 yards. It was a great tackle- he wrapped him up and didn't let go. Pretty tackle for Gomez. Hawks are on the Raider 47 yard line at 3rd and 12 and our defense holds them and forces the Hawks to punt.

**Is it obvious that I am listening to Joe and Gerald's internet broadcast archive as I write this? I point this out, because it this is where it ends, and honestly I am not smart enough to remember the rest of the game.

The remainder of the game was ours in every way. The final score was 34-21. We started the second half 27-7 and we held them to ONE touchdown in the second half and WE scored 2 more times.

My favorite part of the 4th quarter is when we caused a delay of game for the Hawks and had to push them back. Its not easy for your offense to cause this to happen, but we did and that was huge for us. It pushed them back 5 yards.

Hendrickson was TRYING everything they could to score on us. They were not holding back. Williams played the entire game. I really expected for them to pull him out as to not take the chance of him getting hurt before district, but they didn't, which in all honesty I think its a compliment to our defense.

Hawks dominated the game last week against Lake Travis until the 4th quarter, and Division 1 running back, Kenny Williams racked up 268 yards against the Cavalier defense. The Rouse Raider defense- with 5 SOPHOMORE starters, held him to just 194 yards the entire game.
This to me, was the most impressive stat out of the entire game (MY opinion:)

I would also like to point out that our offense is scoring. Rudder has only allowed 7 points, we scored 27 on them alone- with 4 starters out of the game.
We have a GREAT team, I know its hard to stay focused, when you are worried about that win on the scoreboard, but we are winning in EVERY way that counts because we are improving.

Jaycob Gomez, Lucky Torres, Logan Kinder, Travis Leslie, Tai Gadison, all had an exceptionally great game this week. Lucky got an interception AND a fumble recovery.

Josh's friend and childhood neighbor from Amarillo. Coach Johnson and Josh went to High School together and they have both known Cody their entire life. Cody and his daughter- Patton, surprised us when they showed up!

VERY proud of our Rouse Raiders, this is going to be a great year for us. I truly BELIEVE that with all of my heart.

OH and By the way, defensive mom: this is who your babies went up against on Friday night and they contained him, #34 Tech Texas Commit, Kenny Williams

Pep Rally

Judson and I made it to the Pep Rally this morning! It was a great way to kick off our Game Day!

After the pep rally, we went and ate lunch with Jace at school for the first time and THEN (because it was only 10:45) we met Josh at Firehouse Subs for a real lunch. While we were there, we ran into Kelli Killian (Pflugerville Hendrickson's Head Coach's Wife!). It was fun to see her, I got to know her a little when Chip and Josh coached together. They were just dating back then. She is super sweet. It was fun- we didn't say Good Luck, but we agreed to say "good luck on an injury free game!)

Rouse Raiders vs. Pflugerville Hendrickson Hawks

VERSUS

Pflugerville Henderson Hawks: One Name is all you need to worry about: Kenny Williams, a FREAK OF an Athlete (Running Back), who- alone, gave Lake Travis a scare last week. Lake Travis only beat Pflugerville Hendrickson by 10 points (score was 34-24)- not too shabby considering LT usually beats teams by like 70 points.

The Hawks are very well coached and can play some football. They may not have won a game yet, but to play with Lake Travis- that alone should tell you something. They were beat by Vista Ridge during week 1, but I don't think it was because they couldn't. I think they may have overlooked them and were focusing on LT instead. (at least maybe their athletes were)

The Hawks Head Coach is Chip Killian. He and Josh are actually pretty good friends and they used to coach together at Cedar Park. Chip came to CP with Coach Weaver and when Chris Ross took over, he stayed on for one year, then went to Pflugerville Hendrickson as an Assistant Coach and he became the head coach the same year that Josh got the Rouse job. Coach Killian is a really good guy and Josh has a lot of respect for him. Chip is a defensive coach, just like Josh and in a way, they are similar to each other.

Kenny Williams is by far their top athlete, he went for 268 yards last week along, with 2 breakaways that resulted in touchdowns of 89 and 39 yards. He also recovered a fumble that resulted in a 65 yard touchdown. The Texas Tech athlete plays both ways, so we can't afford to make many, if any, mistakes. He went for 237 yards in the 2nd half alone. In 2009, He went had 1700 yards and had 20 touchdowns racked up at the end of the season.

As far as the rest of the team goes, they have 30 Returning starters this season. In 2009, they went 2 rounds in the playoffs.

Josh has told me 3 times what offense they run, but I still can't remember. I am going to go out on a limb and say that they PROBABLY run a 4-3 defense, specifically because that's what we ran at Cedar Park (CP no longer runs a 4-3, they run a 3-4 I believe)

They will be a tough team to beat, but like us, they have problems they need to fix and adjustments they need to make. Hopefully we can adjust ours before they adjust theirs! We need to execute better and do a better job wrapping up our tackles, and we have to play TOUGH on defense and hopefully get good field position to allow our offense to score as many points as possible. (this is my opinion anyway:)

Its going to be a fun game, so come out, wear our colors, get some noise makers and get ready to cheer and make some RAIDER NOISE!!!

Rouse Raiders fall to Rudder Rangers 62-27

Listen to an Archive of the Raiders and the Rangers on Rouse Radio

VERY proud of our announcers: Joe Gadison and Gerald Spencer. They really do a great job!!

The score looks bad, I will give you that, but its a little deceiving too.

What an amazing and exciting night for us. I know the game ended in a way that we were not happy with, but before I get to that, I want to point out the great atmosphere that we experienced.
I just LOVE Friday night football, there is nothing like it.
I love our tunnel, our Varsity football programs, I love our Varsity uniforms, I love the coaches with HEADSETS! and I love seeing Coach Bridges and Bonnie Edwards (one of his secretaries), loved our coaches wives jerzey's. Thought we looked pretty sharp! ha And its great having my little Raider Rousers there and them running out on the field with the players.
Loved that Deanna Rogers and I got our names announced for our birthdays- they accidently missed one- big Ed Butts has a birthday today!!
The ONLY thing that could have made the night better (besides a WIN) would have been if we had Fever Dream as our come out of the locker room song. I am still working on that!
Thought it was awesome to see Mr.and Mrs. Rouse doing the coin toss! What did you think about Mrs. Rouse's Dazzling jerzey?! I thought she looked pretty snazzy! Oh and we won the coin toss and we elected to receive.

LOVED my cute little Raider Rousers. I think they looked so cute running out onto the field with their little jersey's!

I didn't take much video of the game, but I do have one that I can't really post. It was the play in which our running back went down. Its a great shot and you can hear me in the back ground, saying, "OH MY GOD, COME ON, GET UP, OH GOD, PLEASE GET UP. GET UP, GET UP, GET UP" and the more I say "get up" the whinier I sound. Its pretty comical actually. But for the sake of our RB I will not post that play.

That play was the beginning of a long night of injuries ahead of us.

We started out, looking pretty dang good, for the last 2 weeks of our inaugural Varsity Season, we have had great opening drives, but can't seem to make anything happen. On 3rd down we started at the 20 yard line and went down and we fumbled and luckily recovered our ball on the Rudder 7 yard line. (thanks to Brady Spencer for that recovery:)
I think that our RB went down with an injury on 2nd down, Our RB is amazing and is talented and a big part of our offense and to lose him- even for one play is no good for us:) But, the show must go on, and we had to continue without our RB.
We didn't gain any yards on 3rd down, so on 4th down, we attempted a 15 yard field goal and that darn field goal attempt turned into a Ranger touchdown as the kick was blocked, tipped by a Rudder player and fell straight into the hands of a Ranger, who ran it down for a touchdown. Horrible for us Raiders, but that was really a pretty block by the Rangers.
This put Rudder up 7-0 on us.
Then on the kickoff, Botello took the ball to about the 30 yard line, and once again, our offense takes the field. Tai finds Logan Kinder and our #2 takes the ball to the endzone for a touchdown. We make out extra point and things are looking good.
I think its amazing that we lost our RB, a vital person on our team- and who is also a captain, and our team shook off that loss, and responded on the next drive with a TD. I get that you have to shake things like that off in football, but with a young, inexperienced team its nice to see that we can respond in a positive way and get results.
On the next drive, our defense forced the Rangers to punt on their first possession of the game. Raiders get the ball (I don't remember on what yard line) and Tai gets the ball once again to Logan Kinder, who had a hell of a 61 yard run into the endzone and we kick the extra point and it was no good. So at the end of the first quarter the score was 13-7.
We are feeling pretty dang good at this point. Its always good to score (duh, I know that's obvious) but what I mean by that is we were ABLE to score. Unlike last season when we couldn't score against Rockdale.
Our Offense and our Defense seemed to be getting it. They looked really good and I am getting excited. Fired up. We were getting after it and we looked good.

BUT things took a turn and I guess someone on Bryan Rudder's sideline lit a fire under someone's butt because they got after us in the second quarter.
at half time the score was 28-13

By the way- did any of you go to the concession stand? GREAT job by the volunteers in there. I walked down and was greeted with a VERY long line, but I was back in my seat in no time! and with some good nacho's!

Going into the second half, the Rudders received the ball and take it in for a touchdown 35-13

WE get another touchdown on 4th down, when Tai finds Wesley Lewis to make the score 35-20. By the middle of the 3rd quarter, we lost 3 more football players to injuries to add to our loss in the first drive of the game and we already had 1 starter out. ALL 3 of our captains were injured, and our team kept trying. We never gave up and that says a lot. We were moving the ball and we were putting points on the board- even until the very end.
The Rudder Offense was just too much for our defense and they racked up 62 points to our 27 as the gameclock ended.

It was a tough loss and I was dreading going down to see Josh for fear of crying. (I already had tears in my eyes during 3rd quarter and wanted to go give Josh a hug- the hug was probably more for me than him- I HATED last week, seeing Josh so frustrated) But as I got down there and watched the boys run out to give Josh a hug and told their RR fingers up as our Alma Mater played, I relaxed a bit. I listened to parts of Josh's after game speech and I remembered that he was right- Rudder is a legitimately good team. He didn't choose to play crappy teams in non-district, just to get a win in our books. This is practice and this is the time that you work out your kinks. Obviously we WANT to win, but these first 4 games are meaningless and don't count for anything. Rudder was in our shoes last year as a first year Varsity football team. They went 2-7. This is their first year as a true valid Varsity team.
So they are really inspiration to us in my opinion.
I know that some think that they ran the score up on us, but really, if the shoe had been on the other foot, Josh may have done the same thing. Being a new school, you have to establish some respect and they are trying to earn it and Josh didn't take the score personal at all. Truthfully, we were still in the game up until middle of forth quarter. They took a knee at the end with a little over a minute left and I thought that was pretty classy of them.
Bryan Rudder was GOOD. They were fast and they were disciplined and we are young and not as disciplined. That's not to be an excuse. But we are playing GOOD teams. Liberty Hill was a GOOD team and they went on to beat Cuero (who really isn't so bad either) and just last week Rudder defeated Taylor, who beat Vandergrift this past Friday.
I wish Bryan Rudder Rangers all the luck this season. They deserve it. They deserved the win they got and it was nice for us to play a great team to see where we stand. We have a lot of work ahead of us and its going to be a long season, but I believe in our team and our coaches and I think we can and will win games. Our time will come and we will show them all what we've got.
In the mean time, lets focus and work hard and get ready to play a great game and beat up Pfugerville Hendrickson Hawks this coming Friday.

Raiders vs. Bryan Rudder

VERSES

Tomorrow night the Raiders (0-1) will take on the Bryan Rudder Rangers (1-0) at A.C. Bible Stadium at 7:30pm

Rudder played the Taylor Ducks last Friday night and beat them 14-8.

Rudder is a semi- new school like we are, but they played a Varsity schedule last year and went (2-7) They are currently in district 16-4A with Pflugerville Hendrickson, Elgin, Hutto, Bastrop, Manor, and Pflugerville Connally

I don't know much information on the Rangers, but I did see their Roster and their guys on the offensive line weigh between 285 and 315 pounds:)

The Rangers look to be pretty good, so I hope our Raiders are up for the task:)
